The images of roaring engines, high speed leisure cruising on the oceans and fuel consuming sports is one that the OffShore Rib Rally 785 carries along its events. Logically. But the Rib Rally is more then just another event only using the nature for it´s pleasure. That´s why this year we have started up the OffShore Rib Rally 785 Environmental Awareness Progam! All of the crew, the participants and the guests of the Rib Rally are fully aware of the fact that this unique event is benefitting greatly for the unique environment of the places where the event is organized. But the Rib Rally is also aware of the fragile state of many of it´s surroundings, and is of course fully respecting those issues. We have taken many precautions for not bringing any harm to the nature and environment. This comes back in several aspects of the event, of which few are mentioned below. First of all, The OffShore Rib Rally 785 uses state of the art new technology with the Yamaha 250 HP outboard engines. In noise reduction, fuel consumption and literally no pollution on oil etc. at all. But also the routing of the Rib Rally always takes care of it´s natural surroundings. For 2008, The Rib Rally always stays well clear of the fragile coastline, since racing at high speeds will only take place at a minimum distance of 300 meters of the coast, far away from the coral reefs. But the Environmental Program goes beyond adapting the event itself, this program realizes a `return gift` to nature. Every year, a specific fund is found to support, for 2008, the Rib Rally is putting up a special fundraising for the Sea Turtle Conservation Foundation! Due to their fragile nature, the Sea Turtles habitats are endangered world wide, and therefore strongly protected. The Rib Rally helps with this protection, since in association with Jibe City, the Sea Turtle Beneficial Lunch is organized. Together with a respected awareness program, The Rib Rally has raised over € 2.500,00 for this Foundation, which will be donated on the 1st December Sea Turtle Run at Jibe City!
